Started with 8 players (Buck, Ricko, Zip, Bobbo, Dave, B,
Dr. Mark and WOODY!!)
Quick shot of Jack Daniels as we saluted Woody for being
here, a special toast for Duke battling some health concerns, and as
always, toasted those fellow brothers in lodge not in attendance.
Buck does a quick ceremony and unveils new Raccoon Lodge
poker playing cards. Everyone got a deck to take home (Yerman, Duke and
Johnny – Cards will be in the mail soon!). And he unveiled the new
solid silver Raccoon Lodge coin which the winner of each tournament will
receive. It pained me, but I turned it over to Ricko for winning
RLPT#6.
Shuffle up and Deal!!!
Things rolled along very nicely for the first hour or
so. The Wallace brothers beat up on each other quite a bit with neither
one doing any real damage to the other, rather just throwing jabs back and
forth.
The first significant hand of the night came between Buck
and Woody. Buck was dealt A - K of hearts, and Woody was dealt a high
pair, I think it was Q - Q. The flop came Q-hearts, 10-hearts,
9-hearts, giving Woody 3 Q’s and Buck an Ace high flush. Some betting
took place and then the turn card came a 5 clubs. More betting and then
the river card, 2 spades. Buck now has the Nutzs and goes all in.
Woody wasn’t very happy and ended up folding the hand and Buck won a big
pot! Woody begins to whine … more on that in a bit.
The next big hand of the night pitted the Zipanator against
Davey. I did not write down the details of the hand, but in the end,
Davey took down the Zipanator with the biggest hand ever dealt at RLPT
event: 4- Queens! NICE! Make sure that gets on the web page
Ricko!!
In the second session, things got interesting for Ricko, the
defending champion. B went up against Ricko. The hand went all the
way to the river when Ricko called B’s bet. B showed his (K,6) to go
along with the 8-K-6-4-10 on the board. Ricko didn’t turn his cards over
to reveal his hand which means he was bluffing!! B wins a big pot. *Originally Buck had this as
Woody instead of B, corrected by Ricko*
The end of the second session was upon us, but not before
one last hand. This time it was a three way pot between B, Zip and Dr.
Mark. The Flop comes Q – 6 – Q. Quick round of betting, then the
turn card is a 6. 2 pair on the board. Everyone checks. The
river is an 8. Zip leads out with a strong bet, Dr. Mark calls, B giggles
and then quickly calls. Each turn their cards over to reveal an Ace for a
3 way split pot Q-Q-6-6-A. Are you kidding me??? Too funny …
At the start of the 3rd session, we still have 8
players, but that would soon change! Ricko and Woody go head to head and
the flop comes 2 – K – K. Woody makes a 3k bet and Ricko quickly
calls. Hmmm, who has the 3rd King?? Turn comes and it is
a 6. Woody checks and Ricko goes all in. Woody makes the call
putting his poker life at stake. Woody turns his cards over and has K –
4, three of a kind! But Ricko has 2 – 2 and a full house. River
shows a 3 and Ricko puts Woody out. Let the whining begin followed very
quickly with an “I’m out here boys” Note the time, 9:24pm. Yup,
Woody is leaving the lodge poker party to return home for a night with the
in-laws. Hello … Lodge to Woody …
Ricko takes Woody into the garage, not sure what went on in
there, but they both came back in with smiles on their faces. Turns out
Woody decides to stay and buys back in. Would this turn out to be a good
move?? We shall see …
Bobbo hit a wall and Zippy finished him off with a straight
to Bobbo’s three 6’s. Bobbo is out in 8th place but hangs out
at the poker table and sings to us for several more hours.
Things get a little fuzzy for me here so I’ll just say the
betting was fast and furious. Next thing we know, Dr. Mark is all in with
pocket Aces only to be sucked out on the river. Poof, he is out finishing
in 7th place.
Davey was knocked out in 6th place by the Zipanator.
Are you all ready for this hand?? Dave is holding a J – A and Zippy holds
a A – K. Flop comes 3 – K – K Looking good so far for Zippy … turn
card is a 4 … Dave is all in. Zip quickly calls. The river card
comes and it is another K!!!! Zippy has 4 kings!!! Not only does
Zip put Dave out, but he one ups Dave’s 4 queens earlier in the night for the
best poker hand at a RLPT event. All Davey can say is “Mommy!”
B and Ricko went head to head for a huge pot. B won
the pot with a flush to Ricko’s two pair. The loss crippled Ricko, but he
bought back in but soon was out finishing in 5th place.
B had to head home so Pinto stepped in and played his chips
and he did very well.
Zip played his best tournament to date and finished in 4th
place, putting him in the money for the first time. Way to go Zippy!
That leaves 3 players: Buck, Pinto and Woody.
Buck played a little reckless and went all in with 2 pair, 3’s and 5’s.
Pinto called and revealed 3 of a kind and just like that, my night was over and
I finished a respectable 3rd place.
Now we have the veteran poker player, Pinto, against the novice
Woody. With all eyes on the table, Pinto plays his hand blind until the
river. Woody goes all in with a pair of Q’s. Pinto makes a call and
reveals a K - 6 which didn’t give him anything for a hopeful draw on the
river! River card comes and it is no help to Pinto’s K and Woody becomes
RLPT#7 Champion and steals the coveted Silver Raccoon Lodge coin from
Ricko. Nicely done Woody!
Consumed: 750ml of tequila, 1 ½ 750ml on JD, 3-
3finer gin’s, beer (to many to count) and several cigars.
One point to note: Ricko, in the future, should you
win the silver championship coin back please do not do the following: DO
NOT CHEW ON THE COIN. What was a beautiful coin, now has Costanza’s teeth
marks all over it … *sigh* … yet another reason why I need new friends … *Note, Ricko thinks those are Woody’s
teeth marks, DNA test pending*
And there you have it boys, another successful
tournament. Look forward to the next one. So glad to you were down
Woody and decided not to spend the night with the in-laws. RLPT#8 will be
Saturday night June 18th, make your plane tickets now Woody so you
can defend your championship. Or do you want us to come your
way???? Sebs will love that! J ROADTRIP!
