RLPT Event #05!

Well RLPT #5 has come to and end and a big congratulations to Dr. Mark for dethroning Buck who was looking to 3peat.  Here is a quick recap of the night’s activities:

We had two rookies playing this time.  Corey came into the game after winning a poker tournament in Reno and was feeling pretty good about himself.  B gave up his seat for Bob and Zip’s dad who we coined Grandpa Chuck.  Others playing were Buck (defending champ), Ricko (previous winner), Dr. Mark, Kenny, Dave, and Zip.  We began play with Dr. Mark and Kenny not sitting at the table.  Dr. Mark apparently knew he was going to win so he was flying in from Vegas where he considered investing the $145 in some property on Lake Vegas.  More on that in a bit.  Kenny’s daughter had softball practice but because she had a broken hand, Kenny had to catch for her.  The things a dad does.  We won’t get into how the hand was broken …

Play began and Grandpa Chuck showed he was not going to get pushed around calling some big bets and winning several big hands.  He soon became the chip leader at the table.  Things began to go south for Grandpa chuck and he was soon out of chips and forced to buy back in.  Not long after that Corey was out and buying back in.  All night Pinto was watching and trying to help Zip finish in the money by telling him to play power poker and be aggressive.  Zip tried with a pair of 4’s and got taken to the cleaners.  Zip was out and decided not to buy back in.  Adam used Zip’s re-buy and gave power poker a shot … here is what happened:  Pinto bets 3k and Kenny calls.  2 players and the flop comes Ace, Jack, Ace.  Pinto goes all in and Kenny calls.  Pinto has Aces-King in his hand for trip Aces, Kenny turns over Ace-Jack for a full house, Ace’s and Jacks!!!  OUCH!  4th street and the river were no help for Pinto and his night was over.  When the hand ended, all I could hear was Zippy in the kitchen eating some jerky say to Pinto “That aggressive power poker worked out real well for ya didn’t it??”  Too funny...

Next to fall was Corey who now knows poker Lodge style is entirely different than Reno poker … it is much slower.  I need to purchase a cattle prod so we can use it on Ricko who now owns the slowest Lodge player title. Grandpa chuck held on for as long as he could but was the next to bow out.  Kenny too got knocked out leaving just 4 players to battle it out for the money.  As the night went on we talked about Dr. Mark’s investment opportunity in Vegas, is it a good thing???  Questions need to be asked:  How are the golf courses near by?  Do you need us to come with you to check it out??  How far is the local strip club??  Do lodge members get to stay free??  These things are important!!  In getting back to the poker, I knocked Ricko out to 4th place. Dr. Mark knocked me out to 3rd place and then knocked Dave out to 2nd place giving himself the RLPT #5 title.  Way to go Dr. Mark!

RLPT #5A event of the night featured Buck, Ricko, Corey and Dave.  Corey got big slick and went up against Buck’s pair of jacks.  Didn’t go so well and Buck took down Corey early giving himself a big chip lead.

RLPT #6 is scheduled for Friday night March 18th.  Lisa will be out of town for spring training with the girls and it is Ricko’s bday so what the hell, lets play poker and get him shit faced … If we do it right, maybe we can get him to pull a “Luis”.  Those who have already said they are in:  Buck, Ricko, Dave, and Corey.  Those I know who can’t play:  Dr. Mark.  If you want to play, let me know ASAP, as I’ll try to fill the spots with others.

Thanks for those who played!  Look forward to hosting the next one, and yes, the new 50” LCD Rear Projection TV will be in the house!
